Tässä esitellään Petri Tikka (oikealla), seminaarin puheenjohtaja, sekä Marko Marttila (vasemmalla), joka puhuu seminaarissa Psalmin 23 toivosta elokuvissa. Petri Tikka on helsinkiläinen pappi ja tutkija, joka on kuitenkin Mikkelin hiippakunnan papistoa. Marko Marttila on kyseisen hiippakunnan dekaani. (Kiitos hänen tuestaan vuosien varrella! yst. terv. Here we introduce Petri Tikka (picture on the right), the chairperson of the conference, as well as Marko Marttila (on the left), who will be talking in the conference concerning the hope of Psalm 23 as presented in movies. Petri Tikka is a Lutheran pastor and scholar from Helsinki. He is a pastor in the diocese of Mikkeli in eastern Finland, since he was ordained as a pastor in eastern Finland. Aku Visala on teologian tohtori ja uskonnonfilosofian dosentti Helsingin yliopistossa. Tällä hetkellä hän toimii akatemiatutkijana ja selvittelee vapaan tahdon saloja. Aku on toiminut tutkijana myös Oxfordin (UK), Princetonin (USA) ja Notre Damen yliopistoissa (USA). Hänen tutkimuksensa liittyvät teologian, filosofian ja kognitiotieteen yhtymäkohtiin. 

Aku Visalan puheen abstrakti: 

Ihmisen kuolemanjälkeistä elämää koskevassa viimeaikaisessa filosofisessa keskustelussa on kiinnitetty huomiota tahdonvapauden ja perinteisen helvettiopin risteyskohtiin. Valtaosa filosofeista katsoo, että helvettioppia voidaan puolustaa vain, jos ihmisen vapaa tahto hyväksytään. Perinteinen luterilainen teologia on kuitenkin torjunut ihmisen tahdonvapauden. Luterilainen teologia on siis sitoutunut kolmeen keskeiseen väittämään: (1) Jumala on ylivertaisen rakastava ihmisiä kohtaan ja tahtoo kaikkien ihmisten pelastumista; (2) ihmisellä ei ole vapaata tahtoa; (3) jotkut ihmiset joutuvat helvettiin (tai tämä on mahdollista). Näitä väitteitä ei kuitenkaan voida näitä perustellusti kannattaa samanaikaisesti. Väitteiden (1) ja (2) perusteella voidaan muodostaa uskottava argumentti väitettä (3) vastaan: jos (1) ja (2) hyväksytään, seuraa näistä universaali pelastus, eli väite (3) on epätotta. Samoin voidaan muodostaa uskottava argumentti väitteiden (2) ja (3) pohjalta väitettä (1) vastaan: jos taas (2) ja (3) hyväksytään, seuraa tästä väitteen (1) epätotuus; Jumala ei olekaan rakastava ja tahdo kaikkien ihmisten pelastusta. 

The abstract of Aku Visala's lecture:

Philosophical theologians have recently debated the conjunction of free will and the traditional doctrine of hell. Most contemporary philosophers agree that the doctrine of eternal hell can be morally defended only under the assumption that human beings have free will. However, traditional Lutheran theology has rejected human free will. Lutheran theologians are, for the most part, committed to three claims: (1) God is supremely loving and wills the salvation of all; (2) humans have no free will; (3) some humans will go to hell (or at least this is a possibility). I will suggest that these claims cannot be consistently held. A plausible argument can be formed from (1) and (2) against (3): if (1) and (2) are true, then (3) is false and everyone will be saved. Moreover, a plausible argument can be formed from (2) and (3) against (1): if humans have no free will and some humans will be damned, then God is not supremely loving towards humans.

Professor Ilaria Ramelli & Peter Hiett

We would like to introduce you to two different speakers from the conference (click here for info about the other speakers). Professor Ilaria Ramelli will offer us her high academic expertise and intimate knowledge of the doctrine of universal salvation since its beginnings. She will have two talks during the conference, one on Friday, the other on Sunday. Peter Hiett will give a very personal, pastoral perspective on universal salvation on Sunday. He will talk about how the doctrine of ultimate redemption has affected his life, caught between liberal and conservative Christianity.

Esittelemme kaksi erilaista puhujaa (lisää tietoa puhujista). Professori Ilaria Ramelli tarjoaa seminaarissa huipputason akateemista osaamista sekä apokatastasis-opin historian syvällisen tuntemuksensa. Hän puhuu sekä perjantaina että sunnuntaina. Peter Hiettin näkökulma on taas hyvin henkilökotahinen ja pastoraalinen. Hän puhuu sunnuntaina siitä, kuinka kaikkien lopullisen pelastumisen oppi on vaikuttanut hänen elämäänsä, joka on ollut elämää liberaalisen ja konservatiivisen kristinuskon tulkinnan ristitulessa.
